“What art does is to coax us away from the mechanical and toward the miraculous. The so-called uselessness of art is a clue to its transforming power. Art is not part of the machine. Art asks us to think differently, see differently, hear differently, and ultimately to act differently, which is why art has moral force.”

“The Disney Afternoon: The Making of a Television Renaissance” Gets Delayed Till 2025 As Part Of The Disney Afternoon 35th Anniversary
Sad news Disney Afternoon fans, “The Disney Afternoon: The Making of a Television Renaissance” got delayed once again this time slated for a Fall 2025 release date according to Jake S. Friedman.
Likely the reason for this delay is to coincide with The Disney Afternoon 35th anniversary on 2025 and Disney TVA's 100th show ("StuGo" & "Robogobo") already airing on that time.
The Disney Afternoon: The Making of a Television Renaissance” will include sections dedicated to DuckTales (2017) and Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022) as well a small section named “THE NEWEST WAVE: Or Rewrite History" likely dedicated to Disney TVA's current & future slate as part of the studio's 40th anniversary and it's 100th show ("StuGo")

The remaining cards for "Shimmering Skies" were revealed over on the official Lorcana Discord server, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that another DuckTales (2017) card was part of this batch! This time, it's our third Scrooge card for the game! What definitely caught my eye was the artwork; the way he was drawn reminds me a bit of koizumi-marichan's art!

you know what really bothers me is that macmillian audio chose two white narrators to narrate nova and adrian in the renegade trilogy, two people of color. both rebecca soler and dan bittner are white. while i get that marissa meyer has probably a personal connection with soler (and soler does an amazing job with every book that she reads), but it’s really not that hard to pick two people of color narrators. like anne yatco, has narrated anime characters and is an actress or rebecca wang who is a voice actors. both are filipino-american voice actors. and then for adrian, brandon rubin who is jesper fahey’s voice in six of crows, and does an amazing job. or they could have had multiple narrators for the lunar chronicles including natalie naudus as cinder, ewan chung as kai, kamran r. khan for wolf, or gabrielle union for winter.
#marissa meyer#renegades trilogy#adrian everhart#nova artino#i found that macmillan audio chose rebecca soler in a article published on oct 24 2017#like it's not that hard to find people of color narrators but instead it's two white narrators like wtf macmillian#i found most of these narrators by hearing them in other books or looking them up#it took like ten minutes

This is a request for you to ramble about whatever DuckTales fic you want that you haven't published yet 🥺
Omg, I have so many ideas that have never been published (or even written for that matter) so I’m going to briefly ramble over three of them
1: A story about HDL’s first few days at the manor. I imagine that with the houseboat’s explosion at the end of the first episode, a lot of the boys’ things would’ve been lost to either the fire or the ocean. So it would be a relatively mundane fic about them setting up their new room in the manor, replacing the rest of their wardrobes that were lost, generally settling in, etc.. I also think it would be fun if they weren’t used to sleeping on solid ground in the first few nights and had to adjust. I haven’t written anything for this yet, but I really want to at some point.
2: The cursed mirror fic. This one came from a discussion in the discord a while ago about how some angst stories are written with a character acting very suddenly different than normal for no good reason (bc of a comment Alex got on one of his fics requesting something like that iirc). Then I brainstormed up an idea to flip that on its head and have the characters changing subtly until the problem starts to be noticed. Then I came up with the idea that this would be the result of a magic artifact found on an adventure. I won’t say too much more on this bc I do intend on publishing it eventually and don’t want to spoil much lol.
3: The vampire au. In the spirit of spooky season last year, I came up with a vampire au and got really into it for about a month, but I lost steam and dropped it. When looking at it again, I have realized that I do not like what I wrote and will not be publishing it, but there are some drawings that I might share some time. Bonus fun fact: I say it was in the spirit of spooky season but it was actually April. Part of why I lost steam was precisely because I wanted to wait until actual spooky season to show it off 😭
Also TYSM FOR THE ASK BLOSSOM!!!! <333
#actually for the cursed mirror fic all I need to publish the first chapter is a title bc it’s been written and edited already#I need to think on that one#my ask box is open#fanfiction asks#ducktales 2017#ducktales#ducktales fanfiction#huey dewey and louie

Bill who doesn't actually take anyone's criticisms on his writing. Besides Mike's. Bill starts showing Mike his writings, and Mike has some thoughts. Not new, what is new though? Bill actually uses them. Bill normally doesn't listen to people cause "the don't see his vision. They just don't get it." But Mike does. And it works. It flows better now. People start to catch on, and when they have something to say, they go to Mike about it. If it's worth mentioning, he will. Obviously Bill notices, and he gets annoyed and tries to stop listening, but he just can't say no to him. Mike and Bill <3

i am sorry for contacting u but pleaseeee talk more about ur lisa with gay death note dads au i genuinely haven’t been this enraptured in months
Elaborating would kill a lot of the whimsy you create by coming up with scenarios yourself, but here's my half-serious half-baked considerations on this AU.
There's not a fully clear outline in my head because I struggle with wanting it to be at least a little canon compliant but also I just want it to be fun and humorous and absurd while still played straight.
These are the videos I listened to in the bg while playing FFXIV that made me have this idea:
The premise of the kinda (Death Note) canon-compliant version of the AU, in a sense, is that the Kira investigation still happens but also Lisa still has her Worm powers + conflict drive. Kira investigation is still happening and Light takes in Lisa (16, still ran away from her home like in canon,) to look like a Genuinely Nice Not Evil Guy, Kira Would Never Do Something Like This. Lisa, of course, would clock really soon that he is Kira because that's just how her powers work, but she also finds his and L's cat and mouse games very funny (and, she's a pot stirrer). L is there in the same way he hung around Light to investigate up close.
I suppose in this AU Lisa would also go to highschool to keep up appearances, where she'd have totally normal friends Taylor, Rachel, Alec, Brian, Aisha who may have their powers too, may not... This is as far as I thought, really. The point that I find the most humor is the messiness of the messy, messy 'family' unit that would be created if these three were put together. Like Spy Family but hilariously toxic! Though, I suppose, it would be better than her real family, even if she is, technically, in danger to getting killed if she reveals that she knows more than she does (though Light is egotistical enough he might not see her as a threat, if he learns of her intellect, but instead a potential pawn because he's a freak).
Rich wine aunt Misa Misa <3
Though I also hold fondness for the scenario in which Light and L are still as weird as they are but they live together and have Lisa (with her canon powers) as an adopted daughter and they have a weird mangy looking cat named Ryuk, Misa Misa is still the rich wine aunt (with her own weird hairless cat Rem) and so on. No Death Note drama but, I dunno (waves hand around vaguely), Lisa lets Alec eat L's cake and makes it look like Light did it and then sits back and watches her two weirdo dads enter their mind palaces to explode each other with their thoughts. You know, for sport.
#I left my delusions of being a fanfic writer in 2017 when I wrote my last half-finished fanfic that never got published so this is all that#I can give you. maybe id call this au the Death Worm if pressed.#the main idea behind this all is rule of funny

I know you aren't continuing this series, at least not currently, but it is probably the best rvb fanfiction I've ever read, and part of that is your Fed and Rebel characters.
Hi there. The answer to your question might not be satisfying in the way you’re hoping, but I’ll give you the information I can on this, and a little bit of insight into the thought process on these.
As a general rule, the New Republic wore tan as their main color and the Feds wore white as their main. This is directly from the show and differentiates the two armies from each other. While there is the potential for mixing in the future, as things stand, their main color represents loyalty, which is why neither Felix nor Locus ever wore Chorus colors.
Secondary colors denote jobs, while this could have just been an aesthetic choice, I latched onto purple being medical since Grey and Doc both ended up in the medical field. This means that purple is HEAVILY represented in Finding Washington as a color, because when you've got people falling from space and bouncing across the planet, well, they need a lot of medical personnel. I recognize that this isn’t perfect, given North and South are both in purple, but Freelancer is very different from Chorus, and it doesn’t really count.
As far as ethnicity goes, this is where mental worldbuilding takes over and isn’t necessarily going to be satisfying in the way you’d like. It’s also…well, I started this project nearly a decade ago at this point, and I wasn’t as conscious of things as I probably should have been when I started my worldbuilding and writing.
The short story is, anyone who isn’t a high-ranking Fed is a person of color/a member of a minority community, but in true Red vs Blue fashion, I’ve tried to leave specifics up to the imagination with very few exceptions as to not interfere with the longstanding tradition of facecanons.
Characters like Paez and Doyle are going to look very white and if asked would be able to trace their lineage very clearly back to the families they came from on earth. This might also be true of Grey, but would be true for anyone who could potentially end up in a position of authority in the Federal Army.
This would have eventually been important as a part of the overall backstory for the war on Chorus.
Originally, Chorus was a science outpost, but it was a military science outpost on the edge of habitable space. This is also a ‘science outpost’ that has a full city with railways and skyscrapers. In order for a location like this to operate, with this many military bases and this large of a city so far away from standard shipping and transport, Chorus needs to be completely self-sufficient.
I live near a military base in the US, and they rely heavily on the civilian town they’re attached to in order to keep the base going, but also on transport from other areas.
What would it be like to have to rely entirely on the self? It would be incredibly important that Chorus be able to sustain itself for years if necessary without outside interference. Meaning, Chorus needed enough inhabitants to work in agriculture, textile production, building and maintenance, etc. They needed enough people to increase the population and account for deaths from illness, injury, and natural causes.
Meaning they'd need to bring in families to work.
They needed people who would be less likely to be missed if they weren’t ever able to go back home.
Meaning the poor, lower class, and laborers.
They needed a way to make sure that the people in charge stay in charge.
Meaning hierarchy.
On top of having military hierarchy there would be military contractors who work for the military, but would not have been actual government employees, and below them would be the hired laborers meant to keep the planet functioning.
An example of this is Kimball. Unlike Doyle, who’s position was granted to him because he was the secretary of the Brigadier (a position he was given due to his family), Kimball was born to a family of field workers and rose through the ranks due to her hard work, tenacity, and devotion to the New Republic.
As a general rule, the rebel army is smaller because the people in it were seen as more expendable to the Feds, especially early on, and there was not a small amount of total eradication in an attempt to keep the population under control. Martial law, curfews, imprisonment without trial, and medical modification were all commonplace for those who were not in the ‘proper’ military hierarchy.
When I first started writing, it made sense to me that the people being oppressed were people of color and minorities, because that has been a running, real world experience. I don’t know how present this is in the text as written, but it was in the back of my mind as I was writing, for better or for worse.
The big problem with this is that these characters were not written with sensitivity or research in mind. They are in a far distant future, most of them were raised on a very insulated planet where the population was about the size of New York, and had very little opportunity to change their careers or continue their education or anything like that. I will not say that looking back, I didn't use that as an excuse to not do my proper research into this area, and it's something that still bothers me about FW.
Individual cultures are present, such as Smosna being outwardly and proudly Jewish or Habisch openly wearing a hijab, but I will freely admit that I did not do the proper research into cultural worldbuilding that I should have done for something like this.
I can tell you that Kimball is a black woman with dark skin and long, thin braids that she styles when she is out of uniform, though that is a rarity that she gets the opportunity due to her position. Smosna is a Jewish woman, and I have always envisioned my version of her with darker skin, a prominent nose, and dark hair that she regularly dyes into pink. Danvers has darker skin and a single brown eye.
Armor Colors are assigned based on work positions in the Federal Army and some of that is present in the New Republic, but they do tend to float a bit more than the other army.
Names are also something that are a little ephemeral in regards to the characters as well. Several of the characters have multiple names, chosen names, and gifted names. One character in particular has a complicated backstory about her name, specifically because she stole it from a dead soldier.
But realistically, if the name isn’t listed, I don’t think they had another name yet. The only character I’m certain I did have a first name for was that didn't end up published yet was Ramirez, because he didn’t have anyone friendly enough with him to call him by his less formal name.
Vanessa Kimball - Tan and Ice Blue
Katie Jensen – Tan and Red
Antoine Bitters – Tan and Orange

Charles Palomo – Tan and Aqua
Kyle Matthews – Tan and Yellow
Emily Grey – White and Purple
Lorenzo Paez – White and Gold

• super long but I love it…. I never regret picking up this book ever ever ever.
• Donald Duck personas all into one fic… glorious

• author is amazing and constantly updates on this thing and I love that
• I started reading this when it had around 61 chapters and now it has 81… :,) they grow up so fast…
And a Sixpence in Your Shoe by justaboot
• I’m a scroldie fanatic and there is like a few mentions of Goldie and one appearance yet she’s omnipresent… it’s the vibes!!
• HEAVY family hurt/comfort… especially Della and Scrooge. But it’s cool ‘cause they defeat the villain and it’s a big party we love that.
• once again I have reread this thing at least 4 times. Never regretted.
• I am obsessed with every masterpiece posted by justaboot. Obsessed. Every little character arc gives me a heart attack then I’m comforted with fluff.
